The school day
The school day runs from 9.00am until 3.15pm. Parents should ensure children arrive at School from 8.50am for registration at 9.00am, and by 1.15pm for afternoon registration. Any child arriving after the close of registration is recorded as late for that session. If a child arrives late, parents should report directly to the School Office (late is defined as the child’s name having being called and/or the register having already been sent to the office.).
If your child is going to be absent from school for any unavoidable reason, please contact the School by 9.15am on the first morning of absence. If you cannot telephone between School opening and 9.15am, a message can be left at any time on the School’s answerphone. Parents should advise the expected date of return.
We actively discourage parents from taking children out of School during term time since this can cause considerable disruption to their education. Amendments to the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 make clear that Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. An exceptional circumstance is a one-off unique situation such as: absence relating to significant trauma; exams; nationally accredited educational programmes following discussion with Local Authority, School and the Accredited Body; or a holiday following significant trauma or bereavement and the absence proposed is likely to be the last such holiday. Requests for any leave of absence must be made in writing to the Headteacher. If the leave is granted the Headteacher will determine the number of school days a child can be away from school. Further details regarding absence can be found in the school’s Attendance Policy.
